Rail Sciences' Services: Vehicle Studies / Testing & Instrumentation

Testing & Instrumentation

Computer modeling, while beneficial, has certain limitations in predicting real-world interactions. In certain cases, instrumenting equipment and performing real-time tests may be necessary. Such testing can be used to validate computer models or to confirm the structural integrity of vehicle components.

Occasionally, a company may require independent testing of product performance. Rail Sciences is well equipped to meet the rail industry's independent testing requirements.

Example tests that Rail Sciences has performed:

Truck Warp Tests

Instrumented Drawbar Tests

Coupler Angling Tests

Air Hose Tests

Wayside Lateral/Vertical Testing

Over-the-Road Performance Tests

Rail Sciences' experienced engineers can provide an array of testing services from performing just a single step in the testing process to performing the complete test development and execution. Rail Sciences' can coordinate:

Test Plan Development
Test Monitoring
Test Execution
Data Collection and Reduction
Data Analysis
Final Report with Test Results
