Company History
Rail Sciences Inc. was founded in 1987 with the objective of providing the highest level of analytical consulting services to the rail industry. Rail Sciences provides specialized consulting in derailment investigations, track/train dynamics, operations planning and analysis, and testing and instrumentation. We have extensive experience and technical expertise in each of these areas.
Rail Sciences' initial market was the Class I freight railroads. However, since 1987, Rail Sciences' market has steadily grown to include, not only all of the major domestic freight railroads, but several short line, transit and passenger railroads as well. Our client base now includes several railroad suppliers, international railroads and government agencies.
As Rail Sciences' client base has grown, our services have also grown in parallel with the rail industry's evolving needs. In order to better service our clients, Rail Sciences has expanded in three areas:
Product Development
Materials Engineering
Over-the-Road Test Capability
Rail Sciences Product Development includes the ATPMS (an automated Lateral / Vertical load detector), RDCAM or Rail Dispatch and Capacity Analysis Model and a Locomotive Simulator. Rail Sciences' ATPMS, which has been marketed around the world, has enabled railroads to operate and maintain their freight equipment more efficiently.
With RSI's Materials Engineering Laboratory, we can now provide extensive laboratory services delivered by highly qualified licensed engineers. Our testing capability includes in-depth materials analysis, component evaluations, and failure analysis.
Rail Sciences has also acquired a railroad test car capable of performing over-the-road field testing of rail vehicles and rail components.
